LA Times Travel and Adventure Show

This was an exciting show! I had the opportunity to promote my home town GUAM, visit with Dano (and mom - Gina Kono), a long time friend, and meet some great people (Jim & Valerie Flores, Pilar Laguana, and Katie Black). We spent a weekend during the days at the LA Convention Center promoting Guam and the Micronesia Islands. On Saturday night, Jim and Val took us to watch a theatrical play, The Full Monty, at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. A musical full of comedy and drama. It was amazing! Very funny and I would recommend everyone to see it! Thanks Jim & Val for such a great and memorable time! Thanks you Pilar and Mom for the necklace, book, and little nick nacks that I will use to help promote Guam and the Micronesia! oh, can't forget about dinner at the Ocean Seafood Restaurant in China Town.

Cilantro

The cilatro is finally starting to look like cilantro, whith it's leaves looking very closely like parsley leaves. It's too bad cilantro is an annual herb. It would be so nice to have them year round. I'm planning on giving one to Lem & Mike when we go to vegas next weekend. I hope they don't die in the heat. cross your fingers.

Blackberry

I decided to try to grow some berries. I originally wanted raspberries, but the climate is too warm for them here, so I chose blackberries. Ramon said they taste really good on his cereal. I hope by next summer we'll have some to put in our cereal, yogurt, and smoothies.

Mint Family

The mint family. After getting the chocolate mint, I couldn't help but think about all the other varieties of mint, so I got all that smelled really good to me. Although, the chocolate mint is still my famorite! I've been pinching off stems to help promote the growth. These babies are like wildfire. They grow so fast!

2 week Basil

2 weeks now! Don't they look cute?!

parsley, garlic chives, rosemary and chocolate mint

I couldn't help myself. Lela and I went to Lowe's after work to look for some herbs for her new garden. At the same time, I picked up a few more starter plants. These would include parslery, rosemary, garlic chives and chocolate mint. I couldn't stop thinking about the mint family. A mint group would be a great addition to my garden. So, I'm thinking of getting two more varieties of mint (pinapple mint, and spearmint).

I've never really heard of garlic chives before, but I guess they're very similar to regular chives, but instead of a mild onion flavor, they have a mild garlic flavor. I'll use it sometime when I'm low on garlic.

1 wk basil

I've planted my basil from seeds and it seems to be doing very well. It's been about 5 days now since I've planted them. They'll be ready to eat in about a month or so I think. I'm planning on making some pesto with these babies. yum.
